April Garden Blogger Bloom Day - The Others

Here's a pic of the "wildflower" garden. How about this wall of sweetpeas? The fragrance is unimaginable!

A close-up of one of the dark pink larkspurs.

A mound of dianthus.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. My camera is not the best and I'm not a great photographer.

Looks like you have California poppies that are doing better than mine are, and I'm the one who's actually in California!

This is my first year with California poppies and they are doing fantastic. Last fall I put about 4" of cotton waste on that whole "wildflower" section before planting the seeds. That might have something to do with how prolific the blooms are.

How do you get sweetpeas to grow in Louisiana? Do you plant them in the fall? I have trouble getting them to bloom in OK before it gets hot. Thanks for joining in on bloom day.~~Dee

Just beautiful wild flower garden! I bet the butterflies love it! Spring is well under way in your garden :). Happy GBBD to you.

I plant sweetpeas in late October / early November. I think if you look in an older post on my blog I have another picture of sweetpeas with some information. They have grown like crazy for me this year. Also, I plant the old fashioned varieties - mainly "Old Spice."

I envy your wall of Sweet Peas. They look wonderful! The Dianthus is beautiful too.
